Create your first backup routine.

Five clear steps take you from an empty installation to a reusable file-and-folder backup plan.

1

Choose Start Here or New Backup

On Home, choose Start Here when no backups exist. After the first routine, use New Backup to create another independent plan.

2

Give the backup a clear name

Use a name you will recognize later, such as Family Photos, Tax Records, or Work Documents.

3

Choose what to protect

Add one or more folders and individual files. Review the list before continuing; everything selected is included unless you later exclude content.

4

Choose Backup to

Select a folder on a supported secondary internal or external drive. Keep the backup separate from the original files whenever possible.

5

Choose a schedule and review

Run manually or choose days and a time. Review the source, destination, schedule, Mass-Change Guard, and Time Vault choices before creating the routine.
